MicroVal is een internationale organisatie voor de validatie van alternatieve microbiologische onderzoeksmethoden voor voedingsmiddelen. Validatie studies worden bij voorkeur uitgevoerd met gebruikmaking van de richtlijnen uit ISO 16140. Daardoor zijn de certificaten die uitgegeven worden in lijn met de eisen die gesteld worden in de EU regelgeving 2073:2005. Ook de US Food and Drug administration heeft MicroVal erkend als validatie organisatie voor elternatieve methoden.

Een MicroVal certificaat laat zien dat een alternatieve microbiologische methode gelijkwaardige resultaten als een referentie (ISO) methode. Gezamelijke studies voor AOAC en NordVal worden door MIcroVal ondersteund.

De Microval leden zijn internationaal erkend en aktief bij de ontwikkeling en validatie van alternatieve methoden. WFC is één van de 7 expert laboratoria die voor MIcroVal validaties uit mogen voeren. We vinden ons daarbij in goed gezelschap van laboratoria als Adria en Campden. Daarnaast is WFC aktief lid van de technische commissie van MicroVal.
